Mulongoti: Lungu’s Parentage Is Too Serious a Matter To Die Naturally

PEOPLE’s Party leader Mike Mulongoti says President Edgar Lungu could be “a miracle child” from outer space, hence the contradictory statements on his parentage.
And Mulongoti says President Lungu’s parentage is too serious a matter to die naturally.
Speaking on Prime TV’s ‘Oxygen of Democracy’ programme on Monday night, Mulongoti noted that the Head of State was being given “back the medicine which he already knows.”

He wondered why those claiming to know President Lungu now did not do so when he ascended to the presidency.

“Look, all presidents in State House we have heard them [before] saying they have funerals, weddings. [But] this one is an exception to that rule; we’ve never heard him (President Lungu) attend a funeral of his family member, a wedding of his family member. Surely, where does he come from where they don’t die, where they don’t marry? It’s not normal and this is what is making us to ask questions. We have this miracle child who the chiefs are saying ‘these are his parents’ [but] his own book [‘Against All Odds’ by Anthony Mukwita] is saying ‘these are his parents.’ These mysteries are beginning to worry us. We need to get to the bottom of this so that he can comfort us that he is one of us. Mind you, he could be an alien [from] outer space! How do we know? Is it possible that the name of your mother…. You have no bereavements in the family, you have no ceremonies; this is not possible. I’m an African and I have got an extended family – I attend these funerals, weddings and what have you,” Mulongoti said.

“Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the current President of Zambia, was a lawyer when they were inquiring the nationality of the late Dr [Frederick] Chiluba. Surely, if that time it was right, what is wrong this time inquiring into his nationality? We are not giving new medicine – we are giving back the medicine which he already knows! So I don’t want people to react in the manner they are doing. However, for the sake of just common sense, Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu got elected as a President in 2015. Did you see any ceremony where chiefs from Petauke came to show happiness that one of their subjects had risen to the highest office in the land? In 2016, he got re-elected; did you witness any ceremony by royal highnesses to come and…. We’ve never seen all that! So, meaning that their royal highnesses did not recognise his achievement [as a President] until we questioned his identity. This is not adding up! We have nothing against our royal highnesses.”

He added that the President was being asked a simple question of “who are you?”

“This debate should not have taken this long; all he would have done is saying ‘this is my NRC and these are the details on my NRC – go and cross-check them.) If he is expecting this matter to die a natural death, it’s not possible [because] it’s too serious an issue. Our development, our dreams and what have you are…in that office (the presidency) and once there is malfunction in that office, we begin to ask ‘where have we gone wrong?” noted Mulongoti.

On the same programme, New Labour Party president Fresher Siwale said inquiring about who President Lungu could not be equal to witch-hunting.

“I’m not witch-hunting! I have no grudge against Mr Lungu. But to be honest with you, the history about my research into Mr Lungu began when he started calling for a Grade 12 certificate [as requirement for contesting for political office] in the last election. It reminded me of a time when Frederick Chiluba was talking about citizenship of [Dr Kenneth] Kaunda; in psychology…. It triggered my thinking that for this person to be wanting a Grade 12 [certificate] so much, it could be that he does not have a Grade 12 [certificate]. So that was the starting point,” explained Siwale.

“As I continued to research, I found that actually he (President Lungu) was not what he said he was! He had stolen an identity of another person. He (President Lungu) went to a school in Ndola in Kabushi, Kaloki Primary School, then later went to Masala [Secondary School] and failed in form three, hence this Grade 12 issue because he’s never had that Grade 12 [certificate]. The person he has stolen his identify from, the father to Tasila, the late Edgar Chagwa Lungu, went to Ishuko in Chimwemwe, Kitwe then Mukuba and from there went to the [Zambia] National Service and then went to the University of Zambia where he met Tasila’s mother, Dorothy Machanda. They got married in Mtendere and later moved to Kabwata. Nine days ago, I gave him an ultimatum that within seven days he must prove to the nation that he is who he says he is, Edgar Chagwa Lungu. The seven days ended on Saturday….”

He also highlighted the inconsistencies in his biography, Against All Odds where it is recorded that his mother is Eliza Jere while some chiefs said his mother was Enelesi Zulu. “So you see there are two individuals here because there is no way one person can have two mothers,” said Siwale who also expressed shock that the President does not seem to know that he was a partner in a Livingstone lawfirm.
