Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda says that Zambia can still recover from the 1-0 home loss to Mozambique in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
And Mozambique coach Abel Xavier said that his side will not get carried away by the win over Zambia but will stay focused.
Speaking in a post match interview after Zambia lost 1-0 to Mozambique Nyirenda said that his players did not show enough passion to win the match.
“We have time to recover and I think we also have a lot of games in terms of Cosafa, CHAN and we world cup games,” he said.
“We have to make a lot of strides in order to beef up our team and be where we have to be. Definitely we are not out we may have dropped points but we can still get there.”
Nyirenda said that the 1-0 loss to Mozambique was very disappointing to him and his squad.
“This is the most disappointing performance from our team at home. I am so disappointed with our team. I believe that Mozambique were the better team,” he said.
“Our team did not show any passion, they did not show any responsibility, they created a lot of scoring chances, they could have wrapped it up but they did not take responsibility.”
And Xavier said that his lads were riding on self belief in their quest to make the trip to Cameroun in 2019.
“We need to be very realistic, we should focus and put our foot on the ground, people are happy, people in Mozambique are happy but we are coaches and they are players and they know what this result means for us,” he said.
Namibia lost 1-0 away to Guinea Bissau in the other Group K match.
