President Edgar Lungu will be flown out for specialist treatment, according to his special assistant for press and public relations Amos Chanda.
Chanda did not state where and when the President would be going, but said he was still hospitalised at Maina Soko Military Hospital.
“Doctors have explored options of correcting the narrowing of the food pipe that led to the illness of the President on Sunday,” Chanda said.
“They have recommended that President Lungu undergoes a high-tech medical procedure which is currently unavailable in Zambia and therefore he has been referred for specialised treatment abroad.”
He further said the doctors “ruled out full malaria infection”
