KINDLY allow me to provoke some thinking among my fellow Zambians over the topical issue of homosexuality in Zambia and the position the Western countries have subtly taken to promote it in our country.
I begin by asking the West why they want to promote homosexuality in our country, which is both against our cultural values and the Constitution.
Yet their values and constitutions do not allow any discussion on polygamy, which is an offence attracting custodial terms in their countries.
And the Constitution is something that our Western friends respect so much. But why do they want to downplay ours?
This is a show of double standards. In case some people may not know, the grandfather of a prominent United States senator was exiled to Mexico because he was a polygamist.
While on one hand they are saying this homosexuality is an issue of human rights, they are failing to acknowledge that polygamy, which they have criminalised, is a cultural choice in the African contest.
No culture is superior to another globally.
And we should not even allow open discussion on homosexuality.
I am glad the majority Zambians are very opposed to this promotion of gayism because we know it is a disorder or disorientation of sexual desire for the opposite sex.
