VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Guy Scott says he does not go round Zambia in order to rest but to work.

Meanwhile, Daniel Munkombwe says Vice-President Scott is stuck to President Michael Sata.
During a briefing by the Local Government Association of Zambia shortly after his arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone yesterday, Vice-President Scott said he does not run around the country to rest.

This was after an official from LGAZ suggested that he needed to rest before officially opening the association’s 58th LGAZ Annual Conference and the 11th Alliance of Mayors and Municipal Leaders Initiative for Community Action on AIDS at the Local Level (AMICAALL).

“No, no we don’t run around the country in order to rest,” he said.

At this point, LGAZ president Mulenga Sata chipped in, saying it was a diplomatic way of asking the Vice-President to freshen up.

And addressing cadres earlier, Vice-President Scott, who was accompanied by local government minister Emmanuel Chenda, said he had all the confidence that the PF was stable and that there were no problems.

“It is very peaceful this morning [in Lusaka], and when I return there today (yesterday), it will also be peaceful and everything will be working normal, so I have confidence,” said Vice-President Scott.

And speaking when he welcomed Dr Scott at the airport, Munkombwe, who is Southern Province minister and PF provincial chairperson, said the province was peculiar and that one must know how to handle the people in order to penetrate it politically.

“You are stuck to President Michael Sata, you speak the language of unity. Any leader who is divisive is a failing leader, is a finishing one. We will respect all members of the central committee in Southern Province and we will expect the President to respect you also,” Munkombwe said.

He invited people willing to help the PF grow to join him.

Munkombwe said some individuals were bent on dividing the party in the province and pledged to work with President Sata and the PF central committee.

“We will deal with you…those individuals who think that they can run the party in the province because of their influence and because of their money, unfortunately it can’t work that way. Allegiance must be to the President and the central committee,” he said.

Munkombwe said the LGAZ was an important tool for the government.
