Vice president Guy Scott says he will eat his heart if Rupiah Banda comes back as Republican president.
And chief Mishoro of the Ngoni people in Chipata says female members of parliament have had their time in Kasenengwa and that it was time a male took over.
Speaking during a briefing at Chipata Airport on Friday, Vice-President Scott said the MMD had been telling people in Vubwi and Kasenengwa that Banda would come back as president and that he was just on holiday.
“Rupiah Banda is not coming back as president. I will eat my heart if Rupiah Banda was to come back as president,” Vice-President Scott said. President Michael Sata defeated Banda in the 2011 general elections.
And Vice-President Scott said voters in Kasenengwa and Vubwi were keen on the PF.
He said he was pleased with what he saw on the ground in both constituencies because people did not want to be left out of the development projects that the government was embarking on.
“There is a lot of support and enthusiasm for us. People don’t want to be left behind. So we hope to win by a Mangango or more margin. I am happy with my team here and the party,” he said.
Vice-President Scott also said the violence levels in both constituencies had been low because there were no cadres from outside the constituencies.
Vice-President Scott observed that the internal party wrangles that rocked Chipata seemed to have disappeared.
Speaking when Vice-President Scott paid a courtesy call on him at his palace, chief Mishoro said the female members of parliament that had served in the area were responsible for the underdevelopment of the place.
“Female members of parliament have had their time in Kasenengwa, it is high time a male member of parliament took over,” chief Mishoro said.
Later on when he addressed the crowd that gathered for a rally addressed by Vice-President Scott, chief Mishoro said Kasenengwa had been stuck in terms of development.
“If we don’t work with the government, we will not see any development here and all this is because of gender issues. I don’t hate any candidate but let us vote for development. Let us not look at individual faces when voting. Don’t be like Judas Iscariot,” said chief Mishoro.
