Inspector General of Police, Stella Libongani, has assured the nation that the Police command is keenly following Police torture cases recorded by Police Public Complaints Authority.
The Police Public Complaints Authority (PPCA) has recorded one hundred and fifty (150) cases of people tortured by police officers while in police custody in the first quarter of 2014.
Ms Libongani has told QFM News in an interview that police officers are not above the law and that the service will deal with the cases of torture accordingly.
Ms Libongani says it is unacceptable for trained Police officers to torture suspects who are in their custody, stating that officers are there to help suspects to be reformed.
She states that if found guilty, the officers involved will face the law accordingly.
Ms Libongani has since pledged to ensure thorough investigations in the 150 torture cases reported to the Police Public Complaints Authority.
