The Zambia National Traditional Counsellors Association has expressed disappointment with the increasing number of students from tertiary institutions who are allowing themselves to be used in the production of pornographic materials.
In an interview, association executive director Iriss Phiri said the students and other young women involved in such acts had lost their cultural and traditional values because they had allowed illicit and immoral acts in their lives.
“Imwe basikana balipama sukulu – pa NIPA, Evelyn Hone, even ku UNZA – mutidabwisa maningi, nama video shows yanu yavintako, mutivensa manyazi maningi nansoni zibwela, (you young women at schools – NIPA, Evelyn Hone, including UNZA, you are embarrassing us elders with the pornographic videos showing your nakedness),” she said.
Phiri urged the students to respect their bodies if they were to be respected by other people.
She said Zambians were not interested in seeing the students’ nakedness and that those supporting or encouraging them to continue with such acts were only after making money.
“Imwe bana ndimwe ma Zambians elo mufanika kuziba kuti ndimwe bana ba mwambo.Zambia ni Christian nation, elo sitinga kwanise kuona vintako vanu nama nyazi (you students are Zambians and you must realise that Zambia is a Christian nation and people cannot afford to be watching your nakedness. It’s really a shameful thing and you must stop),” she added.
And Phiri appealed to people circulating pornographic material on social media to stop such vices and respect the laws of the land.
She called on police and other relevant authorities to bring to book all culprits to eradicate the problem.
“Nsoni zibwera, because these pornographic videos are all over the Internet and what is hurting most is that they are showing our very own girls,” she said.
“Ngati mufuna kugonewa nabamuna, do it privately, palibe wamene afuna kuona vintako vanu (if you want to sleep with men, do it privately because no one wants to see your nakedness).”
Phiri advised the students to properly utilise the opportunities their parents had accorded them to be in school.
“Musebanya makolo anu, sindinwe bana bavinyama koma ana abantu (you must realise that you are offsprings of men and not animals),” said Phiri.
Former NIPA student Ruth Mukanga, who appeared in a sex video with musician Robert Chungu – aka Bobby East – from the XYZ group, apologised to Zambians for the embarrassment and distress caused by a recently leaked video currently circulating on social media.
