Prison Escapee Kills Man He Found With His Wife

A 42-year-old man of Nyanje’s Mphalasa village has been murdered after being found with the wife of another man.
Tyson Phiri died after being hit with a hoe handle on Wednesday night by the husband of the woman he was with.
Headman Yambani, who is also uncle of the deceased, said Phiri met his fate when he went to Kakuni village, about 10 kilometres from his home village, to see the woman.
He said the assailant who escaped from Katete prison, found Phiri in his house and that it was during that time that he got upset and hit Phiri in the head with the hoe handle.
Headman Yambani said Phiri was beaten to the extent that even his brain was exposed.
He said the suspect allegedly dragged Phiri’s body to a maize field where it was discovered by passersby.
The matter had since been reported to police but by press time Eastern Province police commissioner Grace Chipalila said she had not yet received a report.
