Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba says Government is still gathering information on the country’s imports and exports through the Zambia Revenue Authority following the revocation of Statutory Instruments (SI) 55 and 33.
SI 55 on balance of payments empowered the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) to monitor inflows, outflows and international transactions.
Speaking to QFM News in an interview, Mr Yamba says government is also using information captured by the Central Bank as well as the Central Statistical Office (CSO) to know the country’s import and export values.
He says this is in addition to the approved National Strategy for Development of Statistics (NSDS) which will be a comprehensive mechanism of capturing statistics that will include the country’s export and import values.
Mr. Yamba adds that at an opportune time government will also make a pronouncement of the next legal frame work in order to enhance the capturing of all the available data on the country’s inflows, outflows and international transactions.
